This training course is ideally suited for those who are working within aerodrome safety and operations and have recently been introduced into the sector. Delivered by an experienced and current aerodrome operations instructor the course content is underpinned with case studies and examples of industry good practice. The course syllabus provides an holistic overview of the key aspects of aerodrome safety and operations to ensure safety, efficiency and compliance is achieved back in the workplace.
Aerodrome operator’s need to ensure the proficiency of their operational personnel, with this course ideally providing foundation-level knowledge and understanding to satisfy this requirement.

Who Should Attend
Regulatory staff involved with, or required to perform, safety regulatory oversight of aerodromes, or those within the regulatory organisation who are involved with the decision-making process relating to the issuance of a certificate / licence or continued operation of an aerodrome, mandating restrictions on operations etc.
Aerodrome operational management and staff who need to understand the certification / licencing process, who need to develop the necessary processes in response to the regulations, who need to develop and produce aerodrome manuals and who need to ensure continued compliance.
Learning Objectives
This training course covers key aerodrome operations topics, including safety management systems, airside operations, and specific skills like bird control and aerodrome inspections. It is designed to equip delegates with the knowledge and competence to identify hazards, manage risks and maintain a safe environment for all aerodrome users. Key learning objectives, include:
- To be able to conduct daily serviceability inspections of aerodrome operational areas;
- To be able to identify hazards to all aerodrome users, including aircraft, vehicles, equipment, personnel and passengers;
- To identify non-compliance with international standards and recommended practices (ICAO SARPs);
- To enable dynamic risk assessment to be conducted during aerodrome inspections; and
- To implement safe working practices, applying industry good practice whenever possible.
The training features participant engagement, exercises, case studies (examples of both good and bad practice) and professional discussion.
Certificate awarded – ‘Participants who attend full time will receive a certificate attendance’.
Prerequisites
A background in an airport environment, with practical experience of aerodrome operations, and / or general familiarity with regulatory oversight principles in aviation environments.
