Flight Time Limitations (Subpart FTL)

A specialist workshop focusing on the European Flight and Duty Time Limitations and Rest Requirements, as prescribed in Subpart FTL, which is part of Annex III of Regulation (EU) 965/2012 (Air Operations). Note: Currently, Subpart FTL is only applcable to the operation of Multi-Pilot Aeroplanes under Commercial Air Transport (CAT) rules.

Course Overview

The course will include an overview of Subpart FTL and the related Acceptable Means of Compliance (AMC) and Guidance Material (GM). This course also deals in detail with the Certification Specifications specific to Flight Time Limitations, publised by EASA (CS.FTL.1).

Operator responsibilities, Crew member responsibilities, Introduction to Fatigue Risk Management Systems, Flight Times and Duty Periods, Positioning, Split Duties, Standby Duties and Rest Periods are discussed in detail throughout this workshop.

There will be practical group exercises throughout with the objective to enable the delegate to gain a practical understanding of these European regulations pertaining to Flight and Duty Time Limitations and rest requirements.

Learning Objectives

On completion of this course the delegate will have developed a suitable working knowledge of Subpart FTL, and its component parts. The information and techniques gained during this training will ensure that the delegate will be able to satisfy all regulatory requirements during the course of his or her duties and will assist him/her in designing company procedures compliant with this regulation.

Prerequisites

A background in aviation with current or prospective management, investigator or competent authority inspector responsibilities;

No previous experience in Flight Time Limitations is necessary;

The ability to understand and converse in English is also a requirement;
