Course Overview
Compliance monitoring is an essential management system requirement with many regulations requiring organisations to implement an internal auditing process as part of the compliance monitoring process to verify compliance with the regulations, the organisation’s own procedures & practices and the maintenance of necessary standards. ICAO recognises the very significant contribution that auditing can make to the effectiveness of an organisation’s compliance monitoring process. Additionally, the proactive response to audit findings is necessary to bring about management system process improvement.
To be effective, the audit process should be appropriately managed to serve the needs of the business. Audits should be undertaken by individuals who have the necessary technical competence, auditing skills and personal attributes. However, understanding the basic principles of auditing is a prerequisite both to the management of an effective compliance monitoring audit process and the development of auditor competence.
The course is intended to be general and not specific to any single aviation sector; however, it promotes audit best practice adopted throughout the world by various aviation and non-aviation organisations, drawing on the guidance contained in international standards such as ISO 19011 and aviation industry guidance.
The course is primarily concerned with the management of the compliance monitoring audit process to serve the needs of senior management, and in particular the Accountable Manager, in the provision of the assurance of conformity with regulatory, company management system and contractual requirements in line with both regulatory requirements and international audit best practice as prescribed in ISO 19011.

Prerequisites
